I work on a construction site in the middle of the Saudi desert, so they get a real tough life. So I am delighted how well they are performing. Very comfortable indeed. Let my feet breathe and are tougher than my last pair which stood up to 4 years of abuse before giving up the ghost. These will last longer at the rate they are going, which is great I might get a spare pair for back in the UK as there so good. the side zip is a great idea and works well, especially when you are tired at he end of the day and just want to get them off and relax... don't delay get them while you can, excellent value for the work they do.

After careful consideration of several boots with carbon fiber toes I chose these. A big part of my decision was based on the Bates web site which certainly gave me the impression these boots would be made in the USA. Wrong. Bates, on their website, talks about being the premiere supplier of footwear to all branches of the US Military and their company history is titled "Honor Bound"
This little label leaves me wondering to what exactly are they honor bound if they have moved production to Red Communist China to save a few bucks? This country and the men and women who have fought to protect it deserve better than this.

I switched from new balance m1500 because they basically fell apart after 6 months of moderate use. I needed a boot that would last long, not fall apart, relatively comfortable, and easy to maintain. So far I know that this boot is very comfortable, and very very easy to maintain. Just to warn you, they do have a fairly uncomfortable break in period where you will probably blister, and callous your big toes around where the safety toe is. After that happens though, the boot is broken in, and it is no longer a problem. I'll let you know how they hold up after a year.
